LETTER - From
Allison Hutto, Miss Atlanta 2006 and
CHOICES Spokesperson |
|
| I am very excited about
being chosen as the spokesperson for CHOICES for three
reasons! First, I was an overweight child. At the age of 16,
I went for a sport's physical at my physician's office. I
was told that I had high cholesterol and was overweight. The
doctor put me on a special diet to lower my cholesterol and help
me lose weight. Due to this lifestyle change, I lost weight,
had more energy, and just felt like a healthier person. At this
point in my life, I made the decision to dedicate my life to
helping others gain a healthier lifestyle.
Second, I am involved in a program
that many of you may be familiar with, the Miss America
Scholarship program. As an upcoming contestant in the Miss
Georgia pageant I have to have a platform (community service) and
an organization to help me convey this community issue. My
platform is "Habits and Training: Obesity in Children",
and now I have an organization to help me reach my personal goals
involving my platform and the Miss Georgia crown! |

Lastly, I am impressed! I am impressed
by the passion that the volunteers of CHOICES have for today's
youth. Obesity is a dangerous problem plaguing our society, and
this organization is striving to conquer it. They are not
influencing these children and their families to follow the diet
"fads" that come and go, but they are influencing them to
properly condition their bodies through nutrition and physical
activity. I felt that in looking for an organization to work with,
I needed to find one that had passion and purpose to TRAIN their
participants properly; and I feel that I have found that
connection. I am so honored to be involved, and I look forward to
my future with CHOICES! I hope to help them grow and prosper
and change many lives along the way.
Sincerely,

Miss
Atlanta 2006
