The expo was presented in part, by The Center Helping Obesity In Children End Successfully, Inc. (C.H.O.I.C.E.S.), DeKalb District 3, Commissioner Larry Johnson and the Fulton DeKalb Hospital Authority. Over 600 children received back to school supplies and resource information from 28 community partners. The event was held Saturday, July 26th at Exchange Park Intergenerational Center in Decatur, Georgia. There were 1,300 parents and children in attendance as compared to 850 attendees last year.
Event attendees experienced cooking demonstrations on nutritious afterschool dinners and snacks. They also learned from nutrition education exhibits and participated in fitness fun for all ages.
"We are simply ecstatic about the show of support for this most worthy event," states Vanetta Keyes, C.H.O.I.C.E.S.' Founder and Executive Director. "It was a beautiful display of the power of collaboration, and we sincerely appreciate the support of The Fulton DeKalb Hospital Authority and Commissioner Larry Johnson. The event would not have been as meaningful and impactful as it was without their support, along with that of our partners, volunteers and donors."
