Myra J. will be the Twilight Mistress of Ceremonies! She’s a comedienne … she’s an actress … she’s a writer … she worked several years as a writer on the hit sitcoms … Tyler Perry’s “House of Payne”, and “Meet the Browns” seen on TBS. Currently, she’s a writer on TV One’s, “The Rickey Smiley Show”.
Affectionately known as … the poster child for single mom’s, she was a featured cast member on one of the nation’s most famous syndicated radio programs … The Tom Joyner Morning Show … Myra J. stands out as a gifted and versatile performer. She was co-creator & one of the writers for the hit soap opera radio show, “It’s Your World”.
For her writing ability, Myra J. has been recognized as a 2011 NAACP Image Awards Nominee for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series and a 2010 Humanitas Award Finalist in the “Writing & Directing – 30 Minute Category”.
Myra J.. began her career as a comedienne more than twenty years ago. Her comedic reflections & joke telling, led to appearances in the blockbuster movie motion picture … “The Gospel” as well as other films such as “Indecent Proposal” (starring Demi Moore), “House Party” (Kid –n- Play), “Bulworth” (starring Halle Berry & Warren Beatty) and “Hollywood Shuffle” (starring Robert Townsend). She’s also made a guest appearance on the UPN top-rated comedy show … “Eve”. If you haven’t seen her, you may have heard her … on “The Proud Family” … and as the voice of the evil Dorothea, in “Bebe’s Kids”.
She has made guest star appearances in cable shows such as Showtime’s “Linc’s”, Sinbad’s Summer Jam, Evening at the Improv and HBO’s Def Comedy Jam. Myra has been a featured writer for the T.V. sitcoms “Martin”, “Hanging’ With Mr. Cooper”, “Good News”, and The Tom Joyner Show, a weekly syndicated variety show. In 2011, Myra appeared in a pilot project called “The Clubhouse”.
In addition, Myra J. has been the voice over in numerous radio commercials, as well as a Belding award winner for an anti-smoking spot that she wrote and featured.
The native Chicagoan attended college at Illinois State University where she received a B.A. in Communication and a Masters in Education. After working for many years in social services, Myra decided to switch gears and pursue her passion of comedy. She’s never looked back.
Myra J. has traveled across the country hosting various events sponsored by non-profit groups, fundraising events for HBCUs, social organizations and women’s empowerment seminars such as, the “Pantene Total You Tour”.
Myra ventured as an entrepreneur and created a line of greeting cards … highlighting the wisdom and celebrating the spirit … of the “The Single Mom”.
