Let’s Fight Childhood Obesity

One in 3 children in the United States is overweight or obese. Childhood obesity puts kids at risk for health diseases that were once seen only in adults, like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease. The good news is that childhood obesity rates are decreasing in some states. And, with your help we can support efforts to decrease these rates everywhere by making the effort to get fit!

Here’s a few simple changes that we can all make:

  • Be more active:  Get at least 60 minutes of exercise everyday. Whether it’s walking, aerobics or dancing every step counts!
  • Eat fresh foods:  Buy fresh fruits, vegetables and whole-grain foods. Make more meals at home. And, don’t forget to drink water!

National Childhood Obesity Awareness
Month 2014
“Each American has an important part to play as we build healthier communities for young people across our Nation. During National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month, we continue our work to provide every child with healthy food, active play, and a good example to follow. By committing to a healthy lifestyle for our families and eating right ourselves, we can help turn the tide against childhood obesity across our country,” President Obama said in the proclamation.
